TEENworks Career Coordinator

Goodman Community Center is looking for a dedicated and dynamic person with experience in youth employment programs. GCC's TEENworks (Teen Education and Employment Network) Career Coordinator will develop and maintain a network of post-secondary educational organizations and provide case management for TEENworks participants. This is a .5 FTE (20--25 hours weekly) requiring a flexible schedule including some evening and weekend availability. 

Specific duties include:
1. Provide enrichment-based programming for high school aged youth promoting student academic achievement and skill building in selected career tracks including Culinary Arts; Maintenance, Building and Landscaping; and education/child care.
2. Assist in the development and supervision of youth employment career tracks within GCC

3. Support the transition of youth from high school to post-secondary education institutions

AmeriCorps Afterschool Teacher

Now looking for a AmeriCorps volunteer to work in our state licensed and city accredited after school program. This teaching position teams with a lead teacher working with our 4K/5K children providing academic and enrichment opportunities during after school hours. This position would also help with volunteer recruitment and management, work within our partner schools, assist with family events held throughout the year, and organize additional programming for elementary age students at the center.

The commitment is for 900 hours, to be completed by August 31, 2012. Hours would be approximately 20-25 hours during the rest of the school year and then 40 hours during the 10 weeks of summer camp. You will receive a living allowance every other week which will be $305.04. minus taxes and Social Security paid for 19 pay periods for a total of $5,795.80.

The education award is $2775 upon completing 900 hours by August 31, 2012.

Lead Afterschool Teacher

We are hiring a lead teacher in our Afterschool program to work with our 4th and 5th grade children. A lead teacher is responsible for the supervision and management of their classroom while supporting Goodman Community Center goals and outcomes. Working with the Afterschool manger and assistants, the lead teacher plans and carries out daily activities, evaluates the effectiveness of the program and activities, ensure the safety and physical well-being of the children, maintains regular communication with parents, and contributes to the effective operation of the overall childcare program.

Substitute Childcare Teachers

Looking for part-time or occasional hours working with great kids and staff? GCC has opportunities to for substitute teach in our preschool and afterschool programs. Must have experience with preschool or elementary age children and coursework in Early Childhood Ed or related field.

Substitute teachers may be called in advance to cover vacations, staff development trainings, meetings or other planned absences. Substitutes may also be called in on short notice to cover for staff out ill. The amount of shifts you decide to fill is entirely up to you.
