SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS

The Center is looking for substitute teachers for our state-licensed and city-accredited Atwood Preschool and Afterschool Programs. Candidates must have experience working with elementary-age or preschool-age children. Desirable candidates will possess a CDA credential, or preferably an associate's degree in Early Childhood/Child/Development or a BA in ECE/CD, or a BA in a related field with some coursework specifically related to early childhood education.

Atwood Preschool is open Monday - Friday from 7:30 am - 5:30 pm. Atwood Afterschool is open Mondays 1:00 - 5:30 pm, Tuesday - Friday 2:30 - 5:30 pm. Substitutes are needed for planned vacations or training and for on-call purposes to fill in for illness or other unplanned staff absences. We are looking for people interested in working with in a Preschool or Afterschool setting or willing to do both. AFTERSCHOOL TEACHER

Goodman Community Center, formerly the Atwood Community Center, needs a creative, energetic teacher for our elementary age after school program. Join us in our beautiful new facility with expanded after-school programming. 25 hours per week, benefited position, includes some weekend and evening hrs. Program is state licensed. Must have experience with elementary age children and applicable education or coursework.

YOUTH RESOURCE CENTER STAFF

This position will work with Goodman Community Center (GCC), MSCR and O’Keeffe Middle School. Duties include working with diverse backgrounds, schools and families to coordinate academic, enrichment, recreational opportunities and supervision of the programming and staff at the Lussier Teen Center.

This is a 40-hour salaried position (20 hours O’Keeffe Programming, 15 hours GCC and 5 hours of coordination) and reports to the GCC and MSCR Middle and High School Program Director.

Duties and Responsibilities : This position is responsible for the coordination of clubs and activities for middle school youth from O’Keeffe at the school and the Goodman Community Center. The position also supports academic achievement of students performing below abilities by working closely with school, GCC staff and families and by coordinating/offering tutoring and homework activities for middle school youth.
The position requires a person with strong organizational skills, good communication skills, strong people skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Hours vary and include school day hours, afterschool, evening and some weekends.

YOUTH VOLUNTEER CORPS MEMBER

The Goodman Community Center, (GCC) is looking for a committed energetic person to join our Youth volunteer Corp (YVC) of America Team. YVC is an arm of the national AmeriCorp program. It is an opportunity to work with an organization committed to enrich Madison’s youth, address community needs and develop a lifetime commitment to service. GCC YVC member will coordinate service-learning projects with elementary, middle and high school youth in GCC youth programs.

GCC provides comprehensive programs for youth ages 9-17. Youth attending programs represent a variety of racial/ethnic backgrounds including African American, South East Asian and Latina. The YVC member will work in a community center setting with youth development staff collaborating with families, schools, other youth service providers, and work as a part of the city wide team. This position will require 25-40 hours weekly through August 2009. YVC members receive a monthly stipend, full health insurance and an Education Award at the completion of your service. The Goodman Community Center has two full time positions and two part time positions available September 2008.
Full-time members will receive:
• Living allowance of $11,400 per year, distributed in equal payments twice monthly

• Access to GCC’s Fitness Club
• Less than full-time members receive pro-rated living allowances and education awards.
