Most of our big events serve one big purpose >> they bring in much needed funds to keep our programs going and growing. But that's never the whole story. They also bring our community together to help each other; to celebrate what's good, and of course to have fun. Lots of fun.

We can do anything. Really. We're so lucky to have great friends in the community who host events with us and on our behalf. Like our friends at the Harmony Bar and Peter and Lou Berryman who have hosted annual events for us for many years. And then there are all the people >> like you >> who volunteer, donate, organize and attend our events.

Celebrate Goodman Weekend with us!

Sunday, June 13 from 2:00 - 6:00pm
Join us for music, fun and festivities for the family. David Landau, beloved local children's storyteller and musician to entertain at this first annual celebration of two philanthropic brothers' lives

The Goodman Community Center will be joyfully celebrating the lives of Robert D. and Irwin A. Goodman, two brothers who gave their name along with many incredibly generous gifts to the Center and many, many worthy causes throughout Madison. As older men, their greatest pleasure was watching how their gifts helped us all become healthier, stronger, and more connected as a community. Only superlatives do justice when describing their generosity.
They both passed away within the last year. They are and will be missed. So Mayor Dave Cieslewicz has wisely declared a whole weekend, the weekend of June 11-13, to be Madison's first annual Robert and Irwin Goodman Weekend.' How fitting. They gave so much to our community; one day just wouldn't be enough.

Bring the family for entertainment and activities:
>> David Landau, local children's storyteller and musician will perform at 4:00 p.m.
>> Build your own ice cream sundaes
>> A BIG, cool bouncy castle
>> Gym activities with tunnels, tubes, balls and scooters
>> Take home party favors and helium balloons
>> If it's hot, there will be water games!

All of the Goodman's namesake organizations will host special activities to celebrate Goodman Weekend, including the Goodman Pool, the Goodman Jewish Community Campus, as well as the Goodman Community Center. Madison School Community Recreation (MSCR), The Rotary Club of Madison, and The United Way of Dane County have all created annual awards to honor the Goodmans. As a community, we are working together to ensure they are remembered, their lives are honored, and that their legacy of investing in our common good is carried on.
