26TH ANNUAL ATWOOD SUMMERFEST
Held on July 26th, 2000 and 2100 Blocks of Atwood Avenue, Madison
Many folks joined the residents of Madison’s near east side for Atwood Summerfest, a great neighborhood celebration. The fest had food and craft vendors, street entertainment and multiple stages with live music.
This year’s street festival was again held on the last Saturday of July, the 26th, from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m. The festival featured street entertainers, food vendors, crafters and artists of all kinds.
All proceeds benefit the programs of the Goodman Atwood Community Center.

ANNUAL HARMONY BAR / GOODMAN ATWOOD GOLF SCRAMBLE
Held on June 29th at Bridges Golf Course
The Goodman Atwood Community Center and the Harmony Bar and Grill teamed up again to bring you this great summer event on the east side of Madison-- the 12th Annual Golf Scramble!
It was a fun day in the sun, but more importantly, the event raised much needed dollars to support programs at one of Madison’s busiest neighborhood centers – The Goodman Atwood Community Center. Last year the golf scramble – and semi-silent auction – earned just over $10,000 to support programming at the Center.
HARMONY BAR SILENT AUCTION
Closed on June 29
As part of the Goodman Atwood Community Center/Harmony Bar Annual Summer Golf Scramble, the Harmony Bar hosted a silent auction full of great items from local businesses. Some items up for auction were:
Dinner Sampler #1: El Dorado, Restaurant Magnus, Lombardino’s, Tornado Steakhouse, Toby’s and Café Continental;
Aldo Leopold garden bench, handmade by Chuck Bayuk;
Brewers Tailgate package: 2 Brewers tickets (w/Metavante Club passes) for August 11, 2008, $25 gift certificate to Jacobson Bros. Meats and a Penzey’s grilling spices gift box;
Ale Asylum Beer Party to go: 1/2 barrel beer at your location

Last year’s golf event raised $10,000 for programs at the Center.
The Center thanks the Harmony Bar for its support over many years.

PANTRYTHON 2008 WAS A SUCCESS!
Throughout the day, local musicians, community members, and pantry customers themselves talked about what we can do to help fight the hunger problem.
GACC hosted an online auction of cool stuff, including local restaurant gift certificates, artwork and pottery, play tickets, Great Taste of the Midwest Beer Fest tickets, and so much more! Triple M had on-air auctions throughout the day.

PULL-UP-A-CHAIR AUCTION
Functional and Funky Fundraising for the Center
Donated furnishings became inspired, beautiful pieces of art thanks to many community members and local businesses. They were offered up for bid last April 11 at a special auction night. If you missed that event, you can still see pictures at The One Family Campaign Pull-Up-A-Chair Page.
This project was the brainchild of a few neighborhood artists, who saw the potential and had a vision for what could be done with some underappreciated furnishings. Many community members and local celebrities have sponsored chairs: Wisconsin State Representative Joe Parisi, folk singer & songwriter Peter Berryman and Mayor Dave Cieslewicz. Local businesses and organizations also contributed to this cause include, but are not limited to: Absolutely Art, Ace Hardware on Williamson, Bunky's, Creative Energy Products, Gail Ambrosius Chocolatier, Hans Sewing, The Harmony Bar, Home and Office Upholstery, Martin Glass, Revolution Cycle, Rose Cottage and our own Eastside History Club.

LTC DANCE TROUPE WIN ON BET TV'S WILD-OUT WEDNESDAY!
On Wednesday, October 10, the LTC (Lussier Teen Center) Dance troupe performed in New York City and beat out the competition on BET TV's Wild-Out Wednesday.
| CRUSHIN' ALL FORCES TEEN DANCERS WIN BET COMPETITION |
| Excerpts from The Capital Times' 10/11/07 article by Samara Kalk Derby: Crushin' All Forces did just that Wednesday night in a dance competition on national television. Nine members of the 14-member Madison teenage hip-hop dance group beat out competitors from New York and the Caribbean on Black Entertainment Television's competitive dance show, "106 & Park's Wild-Out Wednesday." "We were everywhere. We just took over the stage," said 19-year-old Bryan Mayberry, a senior at Madison East, who is the leader and choreographer for the group. "We were well coordinated -- not just the dance but the way we went out there and presented ourselves. We looked nice. And presentation is everything." Read entire article |

GOODMAN BROTHERS GIVE $2 MILLION GIFT AND BOOST OUR ONE FAMILY CAMPAIGN We’ve read about the incredible philanthropy of these two generous brothers for many years. No doubt, you have, too. At the Atwood Community Center, we never imagined we would be so lucky to be the beneficiary of such a gift from the the Goodmans — a gift of $2,000,000 and the honor of naming our organization in their good name. We're thrilled!
WE'RE CHANGING OUR NAME TO THE GOODMAN COMMUNITY CENTER Long before the fundraising for our One Family Campaign started, we were advised to change
our name to reflect how the Atwood Community Center is changing with the move to our beautiful
new home — we won’t be on Atwood Avenue, and more of our services will extend well beyond our
current service area. We knew that changing our name would be a BIG decision for the Center and
the Atwood Community, and we didn’t jump at the chance to do it. But we decided to stay open
to possibilities, realizing that any new name had to reflect the reputation for quality, integrity,
and community-building that the Center has worked hard to build for 53 years. more
We're changing our name but not who we are.
