The building is done!

Vogel Brothers Building Company will be turning the keys over to us on July 31st. We’ve begun packing, our computers will be down for a bit, and then we’ll be consumed with getting ready to open our new facility on September 2nd.
So, we will no longer update this section — you’ll need to come see it for yourself at our Grand Opening on September 27th from 12 to 4:00 at 149 Waubesa Street!


May 23 , 2008 Cabinets are being installed in classroom and meeting rooms.		May 23 , 2008 The corridor outside the administrative offices is being paneled with native hardwoods. Windows of various shapes give a view into the offices.

May 23 , 2008 Real doors are in throughout most of the building.		May 23 , 2008 The Lussier Teen Center’s stage is taking shape.

April 17 , 2008 Garreth looks over building plans. On the right we see the curved preschool wall which makes for an interesting walk down a long hallway.		April 17 , 2008 Becky Steinhoff leads tour of new facility, explaining amenities of youth classrooms. New windows are in place — we are looking to the east here. Exisitng brickwalls were cleaned with natural cleaning products.

April 17 , 2008 The new gym is about the size of the O'Keeffe Fieldhouse —recessed skylights add natural light. Spacious enough for three volleyball courts and will include a batting cage and pitching machine.		April 17 , 2008 The new gym building features a covered entrance, and a wet craft room/ pottery studio adjoins gym. The building's design makes it look original to the site.


March 21 , 2008 Cement floors are being polished to prepare them for staining a warm gold color.		March 21 , 2008 The gym building will house an office, art room, kiln, locker rooms and storage. The walls are up and telecommunications services are being installed.

March 21 , 2008 Wallboard and telecommunication systems are being installed.		March 21 , 2008 Wallboard is going up. Walls are being primed. This photo shows the entryway area of the Lussier Teen Center. The main room of the teen center is to the left. This open area will have ping pong, foos ball and a family room type seating area.

March 21 , 2008 About 275 windows are being installed, making a huge difference inside and out.

February 12, 2008 Here you can see the mezzanine meeting room above the reception desk area. This photo was taken during the lunch hour but you can see evidence of lots of work being done. January 24, 2008 Inside what will be the art room and part of the gym. The art room will house our silk screen printing, pottery and open space for creative art projects.		January 24, 2008 The Evjue Community room, which will be perfect for wedding receptions, meetings and other special events.

November 28, 2007 The gym walls are going up! It looks a little like our very own Stonehenge, doesn’t it?		November 28, 2007 The building is crawling with construction workers! We’re almost ready for the clerestory windows to go in. The masonry work is progressing with the inside surfaces getting cleaned and refinished.

August 27, 2007 Margo Tiedt, Project Assistant for our new building, shows off how bright the wooden roof decking is turning out as it gets sandblasted.		September 4 , 2007 Becky Steinhoff, GACC Director shows Chris Odt what a great job the citrus-based, environmentally-friendly solution is doing of cleaning almost 100 years of grime off the brick inside and out.



August 2007 All the old interior office walls are taken out. For the first time we see the big space that will be the Evjue Community Commons.		July 2007 The old windows are taken out; we get a brief taste of how dramatic the natural light will be in our new home. The window openings are soon boarded up to protect the property.



June 2007 The outbuildings on the site are torn down. Soil remediation begins.		March 2007 The ugly siding comes off, revealing creamy brick that’s in pretty good shape and almost 300 windows that are destined to be replaced.
