The Goodman Community Center manages 110 community garden plots along the Capital City Bike path between Saint Paul Avenue and Atwood Avenue. These beautiful, bountiful plots help gardeners provide fresh, nutritious food for their families. Because of these gardens' popularity, it often takes two years on the waiting list for a plot to become available.

Atwood prairie restoration

You'll find the Atwood Prairie on a one-block stretch along the Capital City Bike Path, between the back of St. Bernard Church and the community gardens along St. Paul Avenue. Preparing and planting of the prairie happened in the early 1990s thanks to the vision, energy and know-how of a group of neighborhood residents. The prairie is divided into plots maintained by volunteers.
Want to get involved? Join the informal group of folks who nurture the prairie along. It's a friendly bunch, known to have picnics and work parties along the prairie. Join in >> there's plenty to do to keep this little patch of prairie blooming.
