General Membership Meeting meeting Wednesday December 10

Fritz and Lynne will not be able to make the GMM because they will be on their Jamaican honeymoon.

Betty C: New subcommittee forming of the Dane County Watershed Commission to be called the Lake to Harvest Committee

Betty C: The Parks Commission heard at their last meeting about parking on the grass for boaters. There will be a public hearing about this.

Michael G: will they expand the parking lot if they restrict parking on the grass?

Betty C: There is plenty of parking already for people.

John: It is a safety issue with people moving their boats across Monona Drive.

Steve: Are they going to resod area where they park trailers?

Michael G: Is it a fire lane issue?

Lou: Can anyone park in the boat lot now?

Fritz: Only if you have a boat launch permit.

Winter Solstice Sunday Dec 21st 5pm bonfire on Ball diamond

6) SUPPORT FOR PROPOSED CITY NOISE ORDANCE

Next week the Madison City Council will be taking up the noise ordnance. It has been 10 years since it has been sent to committee. Kipp wont be affected by the new ordnance.

Alex: I live near by and cant hear anything.

Mike B: Noise is on the Dixon St. side.

Michael G: Has there been any public meeting?

Steve: no recent public meetings

Michael G: Martin Glass empties their broken glass at 5:30am everyday!!

Eric: There was something in the paper a while back about a capitol neighborhood with the same problem of having garbage trucks real early in the morning. The neighborhood ass and the alder got together and got the company to move pick up later.

Betty: thats a good idea here

Steve: will speak on behalf of SASY at meeting.

7. PED FLAG PROGRAM PURCHASES

Betty: well run out of flags soon. They keep getting ripped off. Need more flags. Will SASY help with the cost?

Mike: motion to let Betty spend up to $150 to purchase flag material.

Michael G: other cities get local businesses to help pay for the flags in exchange letting the businesses put a small logo on the flag.

Betty: Ill explore with businesses around the different crossings.

Alex: they can sponsor for 6 months

Mark: any public money involved? Might raise eyebrows

Michael G: kids can help make them

Motion passes unanimously all in favor

8. PROCEDURES FOR THE DECEMBER 10TH MEETING WITH MAYOR DAVE

Alex: Ill mail out postcards to members on Monday after thanksgiving. Becky will make copies of the flyer.

Eric: I check to see if we can get a notice in the local newspapers.

Mike B: Can we have a check box for email or regular mail for correspondence a the GMM .

Alex: people change email address a lot.

Steve: will post flyer on the website.


Food

Steve, Betty, Alex and Doug will prepare food. Becky will provide food.

Drinks ice tea, lemonade mix, and coffee

Dessert is potluck


Meet Dave

Steve: solicit ideas on a note board council members should go first with specific areas.

Alex people should submit questions to mayor on paper. Let mayor pick questions. It can get out of hand very quickly.

Betty: Major points 1) get traffic under control

Lou: Traffic is out of control, how to get it back in control, neighborhood safety and zoning issues.

Betty: Traffic engineering wants to move cars only. We should have traffic planning. Engineering needs to think about pedestrians also.

Mike B: Wants to have Betty and Lou say this to Mayor Dave

Michael: Send mayor message before meeting.

Alex: have some broad topics out so people could ask questions inside a topic area.

Lou: the council should work on these topic areas by email

Eric: Who is the moderator going to be?

Betty: Mark McFadden or July Olsen


Membership

Need to have a list of current members and if they are paid up at GMM


9.RECRUITING NEW BOARD MEMBERS

Steve: need to post open spots on council on the egroup. Mark McFadden.??


10. MEMBER RECRUITMENT

Steve: already talked about.

11 Union Corners UPDATE

Eric: the meetings are Wednesdays until the end of the year. Explained the process with the Studio. How the time line will first talk about traffic and then overall use and then housing and then aesthetics. There were about 60 people at the last meeting.

Alex: asked about the Winnebago intersection if anything has been proposed?

John: nothing yet.


12. East Wash issues

   Mike B: He had a meeting with Jean Hoffman the aid to the mayor 2 intersections at Milwaukee and 1st Street and traffic engineering has not taken account of pedestrians what to make the intersections huge and move the cars.

The mayors office has had problems working with traffic engineering also.

Betty: she tried to drive the speed limit and the lights are not timed for the speed limit. They are timed for faster than the speed limit!!!
