The Center has many ways to get involved in the community. If you are interested in a volunteer job, call the Center to fill out an application and schedule an interview so that Center staff can determine how your skills and interests can enhance the community.

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED FOR THANKSGIVING BASKETS EVENT

Mark your Calendars for Thanksgiving Baskets. Volunteers will be needed the week of November 12th for sorting food, Saturday November 17 collecting and sorting food, Sunday November 18 packing the “baskets” and November 19-20th handing out food distributed across the street from the Center at St. Bernard’s again. A small group is needed Wednesday November 21st for our final pantry hours before the holiday and to hand out any turkeys left to families on the 2-1-1 waiting list. These are great opportunities for small and large groups, families and individuals.

Please let Lisa know if you are interested in any of these volunteer roles.

LETTER TO PROSPECTIVE VOLUNTEER

Dear Prospective Volunteer:

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Goodman Atwood Community Center. The first step towards volunteering is to complete the volunteer application. With this information we can better match your skills, interest and availability with the many programs and volunteer opportunities here
at the Center.

You will also need to complete a Background Information Disclosure Form.
Because of childcare licensing and our City of Madison contracts for
programs, all potential volunteers and staff are required to complete
this form. It is designed to help ensure the safety of vulnerable
populations (primarily children and older adults). The criminal background
check must be completed before you can begin to volunteer. If there is
a criminal conviction related to the volunteer position, the Assistant Center
Director must meet with the potential volunteer before service can begin.
The Executive Director will decide, for each individual case, the circumstances and relevance of the conviction to the position of
volunteering.

All information revealed on a criminal background check is for internal use
only and will be kept confidential between the volunteer, Executive Director,
and Assistant Center Director. This information, however, will be kept
in the volunteer’s file.

We look forward to talking to you more about your interest in volunteering
and what opportunities we can offer you here at the Goodman Atwood Community Center.

Thanks again for your interest.

Lisa Jacob
