Recently, the Goodman family announced the closing of their foundation. Goodman Community Center is deeply grateful for their decades of support for our organization and will carry their name with pride into the future we'll build with our many other supporters and community members.

The Goodman Center has been here for over 70 years, and — with you in our corner — will be around for another 70 and more! The center serves people ages 3 to 103 through programs for children and youth, older adult activities and meals, a food pantry, a fitness center, a community newspaper, event spaces and more.

Splash pad status:

The splash pad is open! Barring any complications, this year's season will run through the end of Friday, September 18.

Troy Farm has been providing agriculture for 25 years

Getting down on the farm while still in Madison

Situated on Madison’s north side, Troy Farm has been a rural oasis for 25 years. At first glance it looks like one of the many community garden plots across the city, but Troy Farm is much more than a community garden. There’s a kids-centric garden, a take-what-you-need garden, community supported agriculture program and a working farm for a variety of growers. It also offers a tall grass prairie with walking trails and a grove of raspberry bushes. On the edge of the property there’s even a cohousing development.

Groups are attracted to the Kids’ Garden because it is a patchwork of vegetable plots and there’s an array of flowers in bloom — and of course chickens — for school-age kids to explore. “It’s good for the kids to see where their food comes from,” Laura Bettenhausen, Troy Farm Kids’ Garden manager, said.
