Shawn "Big Daddy" D, Meals on Wheels

After Shawn has his coffee, it's game time. He brings nothing but energy and dedication to the Meals on Wheels kitchen by sealing the hot meals faster than Eminem can spit bars. When he's not singing along to "Lose Yourself" or introducing us to new hits by Jay Webb, you can find Shawn thoughtfully checking each hot meal to make sure there are no leaks or spills. Thank you for brightening our days and making sure our community gets fed, Big Daddy!

Lehder Volunteer Group
Eight volunteers from Lehder helped sort thousands of pantry donations after two big food drives.

Lerdahl Group, Food Pantry

Lerdahl brought in 16 extra hands last week to help the food pantry sift through and organize donations that came from two of our large spring food drives: UW-Madison's dorm move-out and the south side post office's Stomp Out Hunger food drive. In two hours, the group flew through three of the four palates of donations — that's thousands of pounds of food reaching over 6 feet in height. Thank you to this group for all the fun and donation-sorting enthusiasm!

Peggy, Meals on Wheels

Shoutout to Peggy, our Meals on Wheels afternoon regular and cold bag stuffing extraordinaire! Peggy brings a calming and focused energy to the kitchen, ensuring each cold bag is filled correctly and efficiently. Her smile and go-with-the-flow attitude make sure our busy weeks start on a positive note. We have no doubt everything will be done with the utmost care when Peggy is around. Thank you for your reliability and for being a constant when things get stressful in the kitchen, Peggy.
