What's your plan for retirement?

By Gayle Laszewski, GCC assistant director of older adult programs

In the spring, Goodman Community Center and NewBridge partnered to pilot a four-week interactive workshop focusing on helping individuals get clarity on what is truly meaningful to them in retirement, and the steps needed to create that vision.

That workshop involved creating vision boards, completing self-reflection activities, goal setting and group discussions. Each week, a guest speaker was invited to highlight their own retirement journey and how they got there.

Feedback showed the workshop was such a success! All of participants agreed or strongly agreed that because of the workshop, they have a better understanding of what they want in retirement, and that they will be able to apply the knowledge they have learned.

At the final session, participants asked for more sessions and even suggested a reunion so they could continue to share their own retirement journey with other participants.
