“Dear Colored Girl” by Monica Mims, acrylic on canvas/mixed medium in wood, 42½" x 48½"

Artist Bio

The collection of art designed and handcrafted by Monica Mims is called Creative Soul. With an interest in fashion, an eye for detail and a love of creating things with my hands, I started making art and sewing at a young age. With my art, I like to capture the beauty in mundane objects. Using different mediums allows me to express different ideas without being too focused on the outcome of each individual piece. I let it kind of happen as it’s happening.

Each 3" x 3" canvas has its own detail and charm, and tons of them together creates a story that keeps telling. You’ll notice something new and different every time you walk away and return. These pieces keep the eyes moving and offer an urge to discover more.

A reception will be held Oct. 4, during Gallery Night, from 5-9 p.m. in Goodman’s Ironworks.
