Since the spring of 2013, Goodman has been happily hosting handfuls of dedicated students from both UW-Madison and Madison College through their volunteer programs Badger Volunteers and WolfPack Volunteers, respectively.

Many students, like Dylan, who helps students with homework at the East High Study Tables, spend a semester with Goodman as a way to get more connected to different parts of Madison. Others, like Drew, who has been lending a hand in the afterschool elementary program for the last two semesters, spend a full year building relationships at Goodman as a part of their greater college experience.

This semester, Goodman has many students helping out across our programs.

UW-Madison first-year student and classroom assistant in Yellow House, Lorelei, said that volunteering came as a natural part of her life starting in high school. So, when she started college, she went looking for volunteer opportunities right away and found Badger Volunteers. Despite only being at Goodman for a short period, her experience working with Yellow House has brought her moments of complete and fresh joy. “I feel like I have personally forgotten what it’s like to have fun sometimes, so it’s an amazing feeling to take the time and find joy in reading books to young kids or playing with blocks again. These experiences remind me why I’m so passionate about volunteering.”

Thank you to all of our student volunteers who find time in their busy schedules to give back to our community!
