The Goodman Community Center offers programs for middle school youth designed to enhance their success at school, at home and in the community. We offer opportunities for exercise, relaxation, study and community service.

Our middle school programming aims to support youth in their holistic development by providing programming rooted in:

  • Academic development and support
  • Promoting community engagement and life skill development
  • Engaging youth in health and wellness experiences and education

Middle School Summer Programming

Public registration for middle school summer programming is OPEN! Submit the enrollment form.

Summer at the Lussier LOFT is filled with a fun range of activities, field trips and mini courses. Middle school youth can learn to fish, join Bike Club, play group games and learn to be a part of their community, and young people can even shape their own activities with the support of our amazing staff.

Garden Fit is a popular part of our program for incoming 6th graders. Youth participating in this middle school transition program spend time learning, growing and having fun at the Youth Grow Local Farm, and they participate in fun outdoor adventures like canoeing and kayaking at Brittingham Boats.

Ages: Incoming 6th thru 8th grades

Hours: Monday thru Friday, 8am-5pm

Fee: FREE. Snacks, cold breakfast and hot lunch provided daily.

Middle School School-Year Programming

The Lussier LOFT Program is an enrollment after-school program for middle- and high-school students, offered free of charge to youth and families looking for fun, exercise, quality staff and facilities, and help with homework. We provide snacks and meals to all participants. Our Middle School program offers transportation from two area middle schools: O'Keeffe and Sherman.

We have put a lot of energy into making this a fun, engaging, and supportive after-school option to help guide young people through these challenging years. We would love to have your youth with us this school year, in a structured and supportive environment. This program offers all opportunities free of charge.

We provide school pick-up for O'Keeffe, Whitehorse, and Sherman students. We also offer take-home transportation on a case-by-case basis for youth in the service area mapped here.

The Goodman Community Center's middle school programs for youth grades 6-8 are made possible by a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant, the City of Madison, United Way of Dane County and the generous support of our donors. As a Community Learning Center (CLC), GCC's afterschool programs provide youth with academic and social-emotional enrichment opportunities.

We regularly evaluate the impact of our programs. Annual program reports are made available upon request.
