Artist Bio

I’ve been doing artwork since I was a kid, inspired and encouraged by my sister, and because I was bored in school, I would doodle in class. I never expected to do anything much with it until I started performing music professionally and needed a cassette tape cover and found you could also make some money on the side by doing drawings.

At first, I started a ‘zine called Art’s Garage Gazzette (sic), then a graphic editor let me do some cartoons for the Daily Cardinal. Then I started doing some marker drawings, and people at a party showed them and they loved them. Then a friend of mine had a place called The Bazaar Art Gallery. When I showed him my cartoon in the Daily Cardinal, he gave me my first art show and four of the marker drawings were sold. Then I decided to start painting, some of which were oil. But I found that oil takes longer to dry and it is harder to clean up, so I decided to paint with acrylic because it is less messy. To save money I have been painting on recycled canvases that I have bought at St. Vincent de Paul’s Dig and Save Outlet Store or been given by my friends.

My artwork has been on display in many places in Madison, and I have sold many paintings. Artwork can be viewed at instagram.com/artpaulschlosser. To purchase a painting, email artpaulwritessongs@gmail.com.
