Goodman Community Center | The Right to Read Documentary Screening

The Right to Read Documentary Screening

Reading is a civil right, and unfortunately, a shocking number of kids throughout our country and right here in our community can't read proficiently.

Mar 21, 2024

Across the country, our kids need more support in reading. Reading is an essential skill in this information age, and unfortunately, nearly 60% of Madison students* score below proficiency levels in their ability to read, write, and comprehend text. The statistics are staggering, and there is hope.

Join us as we screen The Right to Read and then talk about what can be done right here in Madison to make sure our youth are getting the literacy help they need to succeed later in life. We’ll also introduce Goodman’s new START Literacy Initiative.

  • Doors will open and pizza provided by Ian's will be available starting at 5:15pm
  • Film screening and discussion will take place 5:30-7:30pm

* Based on state assessments.
