*START Literacy Initiative is hosting their first official public film screening, symposium and resource share! Learn about the forces in Madison already working on the ground level of the literacy crisis, meet others interested in learning more and watch key moments of the documentary Hopeville.
Featured speakers include:
- Maria Dyslin, Director of K-8 and Elementary School Principal, One City Schools
- Beverly Trezek, UW Literacy Faculty Lead
- Tom Owenby, Associate Dean at UW School of Education
- Ellen Franzone, Lowell Elementary School Principal
The evening will also include information on local organizations like Madison Reading Project, WI Literacy Network, Madison Libraries and Guardian Whiskers.
Pizza and ice cream will be provided. Activities for kids 3+ will take place in the adjacent rooms, facilitated by Teen Science Cafe members. Parents must attend the screening to use this service. Children must be toilet trained. Learn more about this event by visiting the event webpage.
