Americorps Serve Wisconsin logo Girls Inc. web logo3A unique opportunity to support the goals of two national organizations and learn from the Goodman Community Center Team.  AmeriCorps, often referred to as a domestic Peace Corps, places individuals within communities to give a year of their life to serving others. Spend the next year serving members of our community, recruiting and supporting volunteers for the Girls Inc. of Greater Madison (GIGM) program based at the Goodman Community Center.

 Girls Inc. is a national organization that utilizes research-based curricula and interactive activities to create mentoring relationships with girls in a girl only environment.  Girls Inc. programming serves the whole girl by providing programming that focuses on health and wellness, academic enrichment and career exploration, and leadership and life skills development.

The Girls Inc. Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Girls Inc. Outreach Program Manager with the development and management of the Girls Inc. Volunteer program. The Girls Inc. Volunteer Coordinator also works closely with the Goodman Volunteer Manager to provide general volunteer opportunities and supervision.

Hourly position: 35-40 hours per week. (Total of at least 1700 hours in service year)

 AmeriCorps & GCC Benefits include:

  • $538.15 (gross before taxes) bi-weekly payroll

Job Description

Volunteer Wisconsin AmeriCorps Service -Girls Inc. Volunteer Coordinator

Reports to: Girls Inc. Outreach Program Manager and the Goodman Community Center Volunteer Manager

 Overall Duties: To provide management, direction and implementation of a Girls Inc. of Greater Madison (GIGM) Volunteer program.

  • Responds to requests for volunteer information from external constituents
  • Conducts volunteer/interns interviews and identifies suitable placements for each GIGM site
  • Works closely with Girls Inc. facilitators and administrative staff to assess volunteer needs
  • Writes and posts blurbs on various websites for volunteer recruitment
  • Designs and conducts multiple Girls Inc. volunteer orientations and trainings throughout the year
  • Provides GIGM staff with support and training on how to successfully utilize volunteers
  • Maintains and updates GIGM volunteer policies and procedures
  • Recruit and supervise special events volunteers.
  • Support GIGM and Goodman event planning needs.
  • Coordinates and maintains special partnerships
  • Maintains regular contact with volunteers through email and phone
  • Updates and manages volunteer database.
  • Collects feedback through surveys from volunteers and stakeholders on their involvement in Girls Inc.
  • Support and maintain paperwork for GIGM Interns. This will include completion of evaluation forms, site visits, and facilitating regular weekly check ins with interns.
  • Maintains communication with multiple departments
  • Support general volunteer services as needed (special events, orientations, general volunteer coordination)
  • Participates in ongoing program quality assurance
  • Participates in mandatory AmeriCorps events, webinars, and trainings
  • Writes AmeriCorps Great Stories and Reports
  • Other duties as assigned
