The board and executive director (ED) are looking for a mission-focused, seasoned, strategic, and process-minded leader with experience growing an organization, leading an executive management team, for our Senior Director of Programs and Operations.

The Senior Director of Programs and Operations is responsible for leading and supporting others at GCC in delivering measurable, cost-effective results that fulfill the mission, vision and values of GCC.  The Senior Director has the skills, sensitivity, and confidence to develop the talent and capabilities that each member of the team brings to this mission. While it is essential that the COO bring efficient and effective systems to increase the productivity of the organization, it is also critical that the team retain a focus on innovation on a foundation of evidence-based best practice.  Supervises: Director of Human Resources, Director of Programming, Chief Financial Officer, Director of ERP and Financial Services, Asst. Director of Operations, Assistant Director of Hospitality Services.

Job Description

The Senior Director of Programs and Operations is responsible for leading and supporting others at GCC in delivering measurable, cost-effective results that fulfill the mission, vision and values of GCC.  The Senior Director has the skills, sensitivity, and confidence to develop the talent and capabilities that each member of the team brings to this mission. While it is essential that the COO bring efficient and effective systems to increase the productivity of the organization, it is also critical that the team retain a focus on innovation on a foundation of evidence-based best practice.

This position works closely with individual department directors to set goals and monitor their work, to ensuring the team stays on track to meet its goals, but also to support each Department Director making sure each department understands its role in relation to the other departments and GCC’s mission. Ensure there is shared vision and values and the department teams understand the strategic plan and use logic models and are change ready in order to fulfill their goals and outcomes (programmatically and individually).

Qualifications:

  • Support and demonstrate the core values of the Goodman Community Center and be driven by the mission.
  • Demonstrate a passion for innovation, breaking new ground to lead change.
  • Proven experience in scaling a multi-focused organization and a demonstrated ability to both lead and build the capabilities of a talented, committed and diverse team.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ management experience in for-profit and/or nonprofit organizations.
  • Experience in managing a “values-driven” organization is preferred.
  • Proven track record of exceeding goals and a bottom-line.
  • Evidence of the ability to consistently make good decisions through a combination of analysis, experience, and judgment.
  • High level of business expertise- the ability to balance the delivery of programs against the realities of a budget; and problem solving, project management, and creative resourcefulness.
  • Ability to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends, and incorporate them into the organizational plan.
  • Capacity Building—ability to effectively build organization and staff capacity, and the processes that ensure the organization operates smoothly and efficiently.
  • Ability to connect staff both on an individual level and in large groups;
  • Capacity to foster a culture of accountability.
  • Initiative- take charge of a situation; overcomes resistance to leadership and takes unpopular stands when necessary.
  • General Management—thorough understanding of finance, systems, and HR;
  • Solid educational background—Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or similar advanced degree strongly desired.
