The Volunteer/Office Manager positions develops and supports the Goodman Community Center’s Volunteer Program.  This includes recruitment, engagement, and retention of a diverse volunteer pool, program management and leadership, and strategic planning.  The Volunteer/Office Manager ensures that Goodman’s Volunteer Program meets the center’s mission and values.

Compensation range is from $35,000.00-$45,000.00 and will be based upon experience.  The Goodman Community Center offers competitive benefits and generous paid time off and paid holidays.  In addition, staff enjoy discounted childcare for preschool to 5th grade, free access to our fitness center, and the ability to work in an amazing culture with dedicated and mission focused staff.

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Development:

  • Develop and implement the Center’s volunteer strategy in conjunction with the Goodman Community Center’s Strategic Plan.
  • Develop measurements for volunteer program evaluation and monitor for progress, which includes soliciting volunteer feedback.
  • Develop and implement recruitment, onboarding, and engagement strategies based upon department/program needs to build a strong, stable, and diverse volunteer force.
  • Create and implement volunteer policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Engagement and Retention:

  • Develop and communicate volunteer job descriptions and opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain formal and informal volunteer communications, recognition programs and activities.
  • Work with the Development Team to create opportunities for donors and potential donors, including Corporate groups to engage with the center through volunteerism.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Management and Leadership:

  • Manage and provide leadership to AmeriCorps member(s) to meet defined Volunteer Program and AmeriCorps objectives.
  • Orient new GCC staff to the volunteer process and procedures.
  • Work with the Program Managers and HR Director to offer training opportunities and create training plans for volunteers.
  • Train staff in effective volunteer management strategies and support staff leadership in areas of volunteer engagement.
  • Manage the Volunteer portion of the Operations Management budget and ensure appropriate and allowable expenditures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s degree and or equivalent, relevant preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years administrative experience.  experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of volunteer management experience.
  • High level of interpersonal skills- ability to develop and maintain relationships and work cooperatively with people from diverse backgrounds and interests.
  • Quick learner and strong computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite, web-based databases, and etc.
  • Ability to multi- task and prioritize.
  • Dependability and a high work ethic.
  • Detailed oriented, strong organization and planning skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to make decisions/choices and problem solve independently.
  • Budget management experience.

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends to support volunteer needs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Intermittent physical activity including bending, reaching and prolonged periods of sitting.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Extended sitting and use of computers.
  • Data entry using a standard keyboard.

PREFERENCES

  • Experience with volunteer management software.
  • Multi-lingual.
  • Related Bachelor’s Degree or education.
  • Experience working in nonprofit setting.
  • Experience cultivating a diverse volunteer pool.
