Summer Camp at Goodman Community Center is a place for children from all backgrounds to play, socialize, learn and grow. A summer camp teacher is responsible for assisting in the overall supervision of all children ages 5-12 enrolled in program. Summer camp teachers help with daily activities, ensure the safety and physical well-being of the children, and work within the childcare team to provide a high quality summer camp experience!

  • Positions are 7 - 8 hrs per day Monday - Friday
  • Program hours are 8am - 5pm
  • Program runs June 14 - Aug. 13. Training will be June 7 - June 11

 

Job Description

Term: June 14 to Aug. 13

Reports to: Assistant Director of Youth Programs or Girls Inc of Greater Madison Program Manager

Job Responsibilities

  • Follow policies and procedures of Goodman Community Center’s Childcare Program.
  • Be knowledgeable of and adhere to state licensing regulations and City of Madison accreditation standards.
  • Assist in executing lesson plans and ensure all materials needed are accounted for.
  • Respect confidentiality of GCC families and staff.
  • Ensure a safe and welcoming environment and complete daily tasks assigned.
  • Assist with schedule implementation, supervision, and classroom management while supporting developmentally appropriate practices as well as program goals.
  • Provide a supportive environment in which children are encouraged to participate both as individuals as well as members of a classroom community.
  • Ensure all children in program are tracked according to GCC expectations.
  • Participate in activities that allow children to learn through play encouraging curiosity, exploration, and problem solving in a mixed aged classroom setting.
  • Support children in their social-emotional development using multiple approaches including positive guidance techniques.
  • Assist with classroom transitions, while being flexible to unexpected changes in the program day.
  • Communicate child concerns and family needs to the lead teacher.
