Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Whew, it’s been a summer! We’ve had kids in the building, coming and going and having a whole lot of fun while learning a lot. We just finished a school supply drive that was SUPER successful thanks to YOUR generosity. And, to top it all off, I got news late in the day last Thursday that Goodman was awarded $1.6 million (!!!) from Wisconsin’s Beyond the Classroom Grant. It'll help us so much in doing the work we do so well supporting kids outside the classroom, and more.
Feels like we should celebrate, doesn’t it?
I’ve officially been with Goodman for seven months, and I think it’s about time I got to meet some of you in person. I’d love for you to join me at one of two free events in September:
FRIDAY, SEPT. 10, 8-9:30am
Before you head to work, join me for a light breakfast, coffee and tea.
- In conversation with Angela Russell, VP of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at CUNA Mutual Group and host of the Black Oxygen podcast.
THURSDAY, SEPT. 16, 5-7pm
Have happy hour with me! We’ll have light appetizers, soda and a cash bar.
- In conversation with Brenda Gonzalez, Director of Community Relations at UW-Madison.
So much has happened and changed in the last year and a half, and we’ve done so much great work at the Goodman Center – work that couldn’t be done without your support! I’m excited to meet you and share more about what we have in store for the rest of 2021, 2022 and beyond.
