Elementary Summer Camp Teachers

The Goodman Community Center is seeking to hire teachers for our elementary summer camp program. Summer camp at the Goodman Community Center is a place for children from all backgrounds to play, socialize, learn and grow. A summer camp teacher is responsible for the overall supervision of all children enrolled in program. Summer camp teachers carry out daily activities, ensure the safety and physical well-being of the children, maintain daily communication with parents, and work within the childcare team to provide a high quality summer camp experience!

Goodman's state licensed, City of Madison accredited elementary summer camp program provides an enriching environment for children 5-12 years of age. Children will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on learning designed to build proficiency in reading, math, and science in fun, hands-on ways! Each week will also offer a theme with staff led enrichment options, swimming lessons, arts/crafts, recreational games, visits to favorite community locations and more.

Hourly Position: Monday-Friday (40 hours/week). Program hours are 7:30am-5:30 p.m.
Hourly Rate: $12.85-14.00/hour depending on experience and ability and willingness to drive.

Program runs June 12-August 11. Planning hours available in May 2017. Position reports to the Assistant Director of Childcare Programs

Director of Programs

This senior leadership role is responsible for the operational success of the Goodman Community Center’s programs designed to strengthen lives and secure futures for children and youth ages 3-18. This role ensures unified team management, team development, program delivery, and continuous quality improvement and evaluation.  Programs include: Early Childhood Education (preschool and four-year-old kindergarten), out-of-school-time programming for: Elementary, Middle, and High School, Girls Inc. of Greater Madison, Fit Youth Initiative, TEENworks Seed to Table Innovative Education and employment, and parent and family programming.

Exciting change is ahead as GCC will begin renovation of the nearby Brassworks building in the summer of 2017 providing new program spaces in the fall of 2018.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a BA, MA in social work or related field preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a team management role.
  • Minimum of 3 years grant writing experience.
  • Ability to interpret complex federal, state and private funding regulations and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of conscious discipline, Positive Youth Development, youth engagement, and alternative educational approaches.
  • Demonstrated success developing and evaluating program models, and selecting and successfully operationalizing innovative programs.
  • Strength in managing, developing, coaching, and retaining individuals and teams, empowering them to engage in self-assessment and continual quality improvement.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to details.

Substitute Childcare Teachers

Looking for part-time or occasional hours working with great kids and staff? GCC has opportunities to for substitute teach in our preschool and afterschool programs. Must have experience with preschool or elementary age children and coursework in Early Childhood Ed or related field.

Substitute teachers may be called in advance to cover vacations, staff development trainings, meetings or other planned absences. Substitutes may also be called in on short notice to cover for staff out ill. The amount of shifts you decide to fill is entirely up to you.

Our hourly rate is $12-14/hour depending on qualifications and experience. Please submit a resume and application to Lisa Jacob.
