The Atwood Community Gardens are Madison's most visible community gardens. The gardens do not belong to the Goodman Center, but plot holders are able to pay their fees through the Goodman Center (see below for details).
Plots are redistributed from the waiting list on a first-come-first-serve basis as they become available. On average, there is a three-year wait to get a plot. If interested in adding your name to the waiting list, please email atwood.garden@gmail.com.
The rental fee for a plot is based on its square footage. Plots range in size from 100 to 1,000 square feet, with most being between 400 and 700 square feet. The plot fee may be reduced based on the gardener's household size and income.
The Goodman Community Center will accept payment for the garden plots in cash, check or by credit card. Payments may be made by mail or in person at the Center. Unpaid plots are subject to re-assignment. If you have any questions about payment or plot fees, please contact atwood.garden@gmail.com.
Garden meetings are held the second Thursday of each month, starting at 6pm. All gardeners are welcomed to attend meetings.
