Response to COVID-19

Our response to novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) based on CDC and Public Health Madison & Dane County information.

Food Pantry Changes 

The Fritz Food Pantry will be open for drive-thru or walk-up distribution outside in the Ironworks parking lot.

  • Tuesday 9:30 a.m.– noon
  • Wednesday 6 p.m.– 8 p.m.
  • Thursday 12:30 p.m.– 3 p.m.

In case of inclement weather 

Food pantry, meal delivery and food pantry delivery will be cancelled if the Madison Schools are closed due to snow.

If the Madison Schools are closed as a result of a planned closure, Goodman Community Center will cancel the food pantry and delivery programs if a blizzard, ice or storm warning is issued. Please check our Facebook page for the most up-to-date information.

Our Buildings 

Our buildings are closed to the public, with the exception of some fitness activities and special events, and we’re honoring social distancing as we clean and sanitize our facilities, and prepare meals and bags of groceries for neighbors.

During program hours (8am - 5pm), these outside areas are closed to the public:

  • Playground
  • Basketball courts
  • Skate park

Splash Pad

The splash pad is closed for the season.

Older Adult Center-Based Programming Suspended 

Older Adult meals and most in-person activities will be canceled until further notice. We are registering participants for Monday-Friday home-delivered meals by Goodman Community Center and SSM Health, establishing a phone tree for check-ins, wellness checks and connections to other resources as needed.

Fitness Center Closed 

The Fitness Center is currently open to staff and members only, by appointment. Learn more on our Fitness page.

Hospitality & Room Rentals

Facility rentals are available based on current public health guidelines (must maintain physical distancing).

Children's and Youth Programs 

Children's and Youth programs are operating full-day care and virtual learning for preschool through middle school; full-day and afterschool for K-2 starting March 8; afterschool and employment opportunities for high school students. We have COVID-19 policies and procedures for children, youth and families participating in our programs, as it relates to maintaining the safety of our participants and staff.

The Center is managing a neighborhood meal distribution three days a week.

  • Wednesday & Thursday individual dinners
  • Friday 2 family-style meals + a pantry bag of groceries

Sign up once, then you’ll continue receiving meals weekly. Contact the Goodman Center by phone or email listed above to cancel. We’ll knock or ring your doorbell between 3:30-4:30 p.m. as we leave the meal on your doorstep.

UW Health has created a special hotline for the community to call with questions about the virus. Anyone who is considering being seen for coronavirus at a clinic, urgent care or emergency room is asked to call the UW Health hotline at (608) 720-5300.
