I've been volunteering since I was in grade school, and while I have many reasons for volunteering at Goodman, three things really got me started:

  1. Goodman CEO Letesha Nelson. Letesha and I had a conversation shortly after she began her role as our CEO, and I recognized that her vision, values, and goals were going to be transformative in a way that I wanted to support.
  2. Steve King, another Goodman board member. We knew each other as fellow consultants, and he had a hunch that my skills and experience would be a good match for board service. He was right!
  3. I've supported young people and families in some way since my graduate school days and throughout my career, so supporting Goodman is another way I can continue serving in a way that deeply matters to me.

Goodman's motto of "Be the Good" sums my experience up so well! I think it's inspiring to be one of the many staff and volunteers at Goodman who are working to be the change we wish to see in our community. I leave every event with a heart full of inspiration and gratitude.

I lived and worked on a lumber ship in Norway when I was 17 to make money for college. I love doing anything outdoors: kayaking, backpacking, cross country skiing, you name it. I also wrote my first book in 2020 during the pandemic — I had time to do it!
