Artist Statement

I am an outdoor photographer. I love being outdoors, especially in out-of-the-way wild places. I love the complex, intricate and simple beauty of the natural world. Nature is the source of my inspiration. And, as I explore the outdoors in all its myriad forms, I take along my camera. My camera and eye attempt to capture the sublime beauty of the natural world

Bio

I first began taking photographs as a child, using the Kodak Brownie instamatic camera my parents gave me. My serious photographic adventures began in the mid-1970s, when I bought my first 35 mm single-lens reflex camera. I used it strictly in the manual mode to ensure that I had total control of all the settings, which helped me to learn a lot about photography quickly. I used that camera for many years, creating many images on slide film.

I have sold a few photos for use in magazines, calendars and cards. The first show of my photographs was held in May 1991, and it was part of gallery night that year. Since then, I have held or participated in a few more shows.

An opening reception will be held Friday, Nov. 3 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in Goodman’s Ironworks, coinciding with Gallery Night.
